“Conservation Education Program on Sacred Groves, Kodagu”

The Karnataka Forest Department alongwith Centre for Environment Education (CEE) in collaboration with the Forestry College Ponnampet, Kodugu Model Forest Trust (KMFT) and RCE, Kodagu carried out the “Conservation Education Program on Sacred Groves, Kodagu”to create an awareness on Sacred Groves (Devarakadus) and their importance to the school students and the local people. The prime driver for CEE to take up this initiative was the rate of environmental degradation in Devarakadus in the recent times due to innumerable anthropogenic activities and the unawareness about Devarakadus and their conservational importance in Kodagu district.
